Lesson details

As one of the most famous vodka cocktails on offer you wouldn't think it got its name in lights because of a marketing stunt, would you? The story goes that John G. Martin, an executive at the Heublien drinks company, had bought the rights to Smirnoff but was struggling to sell the liquor to his American consumers. Thus his marketing campaign began. Using a Polaroid camera Martin snapped pictures of bartenders holding a bottle of Smirnoff and a copper mug, gave one photo to the bartender and showed another to their competition. Soon the word spread and voila, the Moscow Mule became a drink sensation.
