It may have become famous after appearing in numerous episodes of 'Sex in the City' but the Cosmopolitan really hit the cocktail scene in the mid-'80s. Though its creation is claimed by a few, the most recognized creation is by Toby Cecchini of The Odeon in Manhattan in 1987. Cecchini decided to put a fresh spin on the known South Brach and San Francisco versions of the drink.
