Executive Chef, Owner & Culinary Innovator
Reif Othman is a multi-award-winning chef renowned for transforming the culinary landscape of Dubai and the U.A.E. His inventive creations have earned him global recognition as one of the most sought-after chefs in the world.
Reif's passion for cooking began at the age of 14, assisting his mother in the family kitchen and later helping her at their traditional Javanese food stall. He went on to study culinary arts under the guidance of Violet Oon, a prominent figure in Singaporean cuisine, before joining One Rochester Group as Group Executive Chef. In 2009, he took on the role of Executive Chef for Zuma Restaurants in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Istanbul, and managed operations in Miami and Hong Kong. Under his leadership, Zuma Dubai became one of the world's best-known restaurants, holding a position in the San Pellegrino World's Best for four consecutive years.
In 2015, Reif transitioned to open PLAY Restaurant and Lounge, where his leadership led to multiple awards, including What's On Chef Of The Year 2016, and The Pro Chef Most Innovative Chef 2017 and 2018. He also became the first Asian to be inducted into the Bord Bia Chef's Irish Beef Club.
Reif further innovated the dining experience with The Experience, a unique venture where guests could enjoy a personalized chef's table dinner. After two years of success, Reif moved on to work with Twiga Sumosan the critically acclaimed contemporary Japanese restaurant group where he was Executive Chef and business partner.
In 2019, Reif founded Hotaru Holdings Limited, where he serves as Chef and Owner, continuing his culinary journey and expanding his influence in the industry.
