Al Amin
Director of Finance, Marriott International
Al Amin is the Director of Finance for Marriott International and a Certified Chartered Accountant (CA). With more than 14 years of hospitality and hotel experience, Al’s career has seen him work in both operational and financial departments for a variety of hotels and resorts across 3 countries and 5 different cities.
Al’s hotel journey commenced in operations, where his first role was as a housekeeper. Over the years, he learned the ropes of the hotel by working as a steward in the kitchen, as a guest relations associate in the rooms division, as a night auditor as well as a concierge and bell attendant. He then transferred to finance where, over the next 12 years, he worked in various roles including General Cashier, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Assistant Accountant, Accountant, and Finance Manager’s roles before being appointed his first senior Management role.
As Al’s finance experience grew, he has gone on to support the overall financial performance and wellbeing of hotels while also ensuring continuous employment of over 250 associates in various roles. He also kickstarted Marriott International’s first structured Finance and Accounting internship program in Australia which has seen Al mentor over 30 young graduates with a placement success rate of over 75%.
When Al isn’t busy with numbers, you can find him continuing his journey of discovery across the 7 continents, overlanding and camping, as well as building and modifying his Jeep for off-grid adventures.
