Al Amin, a Certified Chartered Accountant (CA) and seasoned finance professional, brings over 14 years of rich experience in the hospitality industry to his role as Director of Finance at W Sydney. His career spans operational and financial roles across three countries and five cities, reflecting a diverse and comprehensive understanding of hotel management.
Al began his hospitality journey in operations, starting as a housekeeper and gaining hands-on experience in various roles, including steward, guest relations associate, night auditor, concierge, and bell attendant. This broad operational foundation provided Al with a unique perspective when he transitioned into finance. Over the next 12 years, he progressed through roles such as General Cashier, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Assistant Accountant, Accountant, and Finance Manager, culminating in his appointment to senior management.
In his finance leadership roles, Al has been instrumental in supporting the financial health and sustainability of hotels, ensuring the continued employment of over 250 associates across various roles. His commitment to fostering talent led him to launch Marriott International's first structured Finance and Accounting internship program in Australia, mentoring over 30 young graduates with an impressive placement success rate of over 75%.
Outside of his professional life, Al is an avid traveler and adventurer, exploring the seven continents through overlanding and camping. He also dedicates time to building and modifying his Jeep for off-grid adventures, embracing the spirit of discovery both personally and professionally.
